Rooney Sings Park's Praises

Wayne Rooney has hailed the attacking contributions of Ji-sung Park after he was involved in all three of United's goals during their crucial 3-2 victory at Fulham.

A weaving midfield run into the area from the South Korean international won the penalty which Ruud van Nistelrooy converted to draw United level at 1-1 on 17 minutes.

Park then set up Rooney for the Reds' second two minutes later, before unselfishly passing to van Nistelrooy who slotted home the match-winning third goal on the stroke of half-time.

"We enjoyed some good attacking movements during the game and Ji was brilliant out wide on the right," Rooney told MUTV afterwards.

"He had a hand in all three goals and put a great first time ball through for me for my goal.

"I've seen how good he is in training and when he runs at defenders they just don't know what to do because his feet are so quick."

United had endured a disastrous start to the match with Collins John putting the Cottagers ahead after just two minutes following some poor defensive play by the Reds.

Nevertheless, United came back fighting and Rooney was delighted with the team's response following the criticism they received after the Blackburn defeat.

"Fulham is a difficult place to come to and we knew it was going to be tough," explained the Reds striker. "But we would have taken any kind of win before the match and we're delighted we managed to do that.

"The first half was just mad! They got an early goal but thankfully we got ourselves back into it and we were happy to go in at half-time 3-2 up.

"We were slack in defence in the first half but we were much more solid in the second period and the defenders didn't let anything get past them.

"Everything gets blown out of proportion with United," continued Rooney. "Chelsea have had a good start to the season but it's still early days and we're just focused on trying to win all our games so we can get closer to them."
